bespoke languages tuition™ provides high quality tuition for children and adults, offering bespoke educational services, language tuition, preparation for 11 Plus English and verbal reasoning papers, ESOL and EAL services, as well as preparation for university and public examinations in French, German and Spanish, including Common Entrance (CE), GCSE/IGCSE, AS Level, A2 Level, International Baccalaureate (IB) and Pre-U. Our expressed aim is to exceed our clients' expectations and so we adopt a rigid framework for selecting and registering all of our tutors. MISSION STATEMENT We aim to provide outstanding tutoring services, tailored to the needs of the individual, inspiring confidence, motivation and interest, to produce results which exceed expectations. CORE VALUES • Learning should be fun • Learning should be inspirational • Learning should yield results TUTORING SERVICES Our tutorials are designed to meet the specific needs of each tutee. To this end, both our language tutorials and 11 Plus English and verbal reasoning tutorials include an informal assessment for each tutee at the outset. This provides focus and clarity for the tutoring process, allowing us to target specifically where each tutee needs particular support. Our examination services comprise: • 11 Plus English and verbal reasoning • Common Entrance (CE) French, German and Spanish • GCSE/IGCSE French, German and Spanish • AS Level French, German and Spanish • A2 Level French, German and Spanish • International Baccalaureate (IB) French, German and Spanish • Pre-U French, German and Spanish • University Level French, German and Spanish Our educational services are designed to help tutees take control of their learning, to facilitate and inform the UCAS application process and to provide a forum for tutees to learn or develop their language skills in French, German, Spanish, ESOL or EAL. Each tutorial is tailored the needs of each individual, providing a bespoke service to support each tutee in their endeavour to achieve their own aims and objectives. Our educational services comprise: • Primary French, German and Spanish • Study Skills • UCAS Support • Personal Statement Support • Oxbridge Preparation • Undergraduate Support • International Students • Adult French, German and Spanish • Business French, German and Spanish Specifically, our educational services have five purposes: • To support and advise tutees on how to study effectively; • To support tutees throughout the UCAS application process; • To prepare tutees wishing to read French, German or Spanish at Oxford or Cambridge; • To provide French, German or Spanish tuition to adults, undergraduates, business professionals and children (4 to 11); • To provide ESOL and EAL services for international students. Our tutorials are intended to be fun, to inspire curiosity, to promote critical thinking and to yield measurable results. Our rigid tutor selection process is supplemented by regular Tutor Development Sessions (TDSs) which are designed to keep our tutors abreast of changes in specifications and to encourage them to share their tutoring experiences and explore best practice. We adopt a bespoke methodology, LinguaAccelerate™, which shapes our tutors’ approach to tutoring, guides and informs their relationship with the subject matter and explores effective tutee-centred practices and techniques. Our LinguaAccelerate™ methodology is premised on 45-minute tutorials; however, longer tutorials can be made by special arrangement between tutor and tutee. PHILOSOPHY Our philosophy is predicated upon the belief that all learners are unique: • They have unique learning needs; • They have unique learning styles; • They embody unique leaning experiences; • They are motivated by unique learning outcomes. If the learning process is unique to each individual, then the tutoring process must be unique also. In this way, we advocate that tutoring should be tailored to meet each learner’s unique learner profile. To this end, we require that our tutors be flexible and adaptable and that they plan strategically to offer each tutee multiple avenues through which they can access, understand, and apply what they learn. To achieve this, we adopt our highly-effective, tutee-centred methodology, LinguaAccelerate™. LINGUAACCELERATE™ METHODOLOGY Our LinguaAccelerate™ methodology is born out of a tutee-centred, communicative language approach. The methodology has as its primary goal the development of knowledge and skills through collaborative tasks and active learning. Emphasising inductive techniques, tutors promote interaction with the subject matter to draw conclusions that tutees make their own. Consistent with Krashen’s model of second language acquisition (Krashen, 1982), our LinguaAccelerate™ methodology supports graded task-based learning to reduce the affective filter, and, in so doing, optimise intrinsic motivation. Activities are thus tailored to each tutee’s learner profile, differentiating by process, content and product. The LinguaAccelerate™ methodology is premised upon a hypothesis that learning and performance are optimal when tutees are optimally aroused. To this end, tutorials engender challenge, sustain enjoyment and celebrate success. Thus tutorials are typically 45 minutes in length, providing for optimal learning, concentration and sustained attention (Elmore, 1995). Adhering to PPP and TTT tutoring formats, the LinguaAccelerate™ methodology prioritises recycling and plenary to facilitate memory consolidation and optimise natural progression. © 2014 blt bespoke languages tuition™ PRINCIPAL Aaron Neame, MBA, is our Principal and Lead Tutor.
